Benildo Guzman was born on May 6, 1950 to Luis and Asteria Guzman. He died on Saturday April 8, 2017. Benildo Guzman was a man with a big heart and a thirst for knowledge. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia to a loving family with humble means. He worked through countless challenges but remained resolute to his dream to practice medicine in the United States. He was a graduate of the Universidad Mayor de San Simon Medical School in Bolivia, and completed a residency program at the Instituto Nacional de Medicina de Rehabilitation in Mexico. He went on to complete another residency program at San Juan Bautista Medical Center in Puerto Rico, and then completed a post-graduate clinical fellowship in pediatric sleep medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He obtained great satisfaction from getting to know and helping his patients and their families. His mission in treating patients was to identify the origin of their medical concerns and not just address their symptoms.
Benildo Guzman was a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Florida Medical Association.
Benildo Guzman was also very devoted to his family. His professional ambitions were only second to his love for his wife and children. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Maria; son Cesar and his wife Alexandra; daughter, Patricia; daughter, Monica and her husband Ralf; three adored grandchildren, Owen, Cassandra, and Isabella. His Legacy of love and sacrifice will live on through his children and grandchildren.
Also mourning his death are his brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family, professional colleagues and friends, and patients and their families.
